Title I Programs

Title I, Part A is a part of the Elementary and Seconday Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). This act provides federal funds through the Georgia Department of Education to local educational agencies (LEAs) and public schools with high percentages of poor children to help ensure that all children meet challenging State academic content and student academic achievement standards.

All Jones County school are Title I schools.  The type of Title I program that each school offers for 2016-2017:

  • Clifton Ridge Middle School-Schoolwide Program
  • Dames Ferry Elementary School-Schoolwide Program
  • Gray Elementary School-Schoolwide Program
  • Gray Station Middle School-Schoolwide Program
  • Jones County High School-Schoolwide Program
  • Turner Woods Elementary School-Schoolwide Program
  • Wells Elementary School-Schoolwide Program

Jones County Schools has one identified Focus School (Wells Elementary) and no Priority or Alert schools under Georgia's new flexibility waiver.

Individuals whose nighttime residence is NOT:
Fixed
-stationary, permanent and not subject to change
Regular-used on a predictable, routine, or consistent basis
Adequate-sufficient for meeting both the physical and psychological needs typically met in the home.

Parent's Right to Know

In compliance with the requirements of The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) the Jones County School System informs parents that you may request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s).  The following information may be requested:

1.  Whether the teacher has met the Georgia Professional Standards Commission requirements for certification for the grade level and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction;
2.  Whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency or other provisional status through which Georgia qualifications or certification criteria have been waived;
3.  The college major and any graduate certification or degree held by the teacher;
4.  Whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications.
